Job summary

Packetlabs is seeking a Penetration Tester - Hardware to lead security assessments of embedded and IoT devices. You will work directly with clients to understand devices, deliver findings, and improve security posture through rigorous hardware testing and firmware analysis.

Ideal candidates have hands-on hardware security experience, strong electronics knowledge, and comfort with reverse engineering and scripting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in information security, computer science, or computer/electrical engineering or equivalent hands-on experience.
• Strong electronics fundamentals; ability to read schematics and datasheets.
• Experience accessing debug interfaces (JTAG, SWD, UART) and extracting firmware.
• Excellent communication and ability to present findings to clients.

Responsibilities

• Plan and execute end-to-end hardware penetration tests on embedded and IoT devices.
• Identify, access, and exploit on-board debug interfaces (JTAG, SWD, UART) to gain code execution or memory access.
• Extract firmware via debug ports, in-circuit reads, or chip-off, and analyze for vulnerabilities.
• Intercept and analyze data on embedded buses using logic analyzers and protocol decoders.
• Where in scope, perform side-channel analysis and fault injection to bypass protections.
