Job summary

Northrop Grumman is seeking a Principal Hardware Mechanical Engineer for the Sentinel Programs Command and Control hardware team. This on-site role is located in Roy, UT (with Colorado Springs option) and focuses on designing a range of custom and COTS systems.

You will work with hardware, electrical, and mechanical engineers to develop layouts, assess manufacturability, and ensure strict adherence to specifications. Relocation assistance may be available with potential for a security clearance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in STEM with 5 years of experience; or Masters with 3 years; PhD with 1 year.
• US Citizenship with an active DoD Secret Clearance with an investigation date within the last 6 years
• U.S. Citizenship with the ability to obtain Special Program Access (SAP)
• Experience CAD modeling with Siemens NX or similar
• Experience with CPLM Teamcenter or similar
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Project, PowerPoint, Excel, Word)
• Experience working with COTS hardware and suppliers
• Ability to understand and interpret requirements

Responsibilities

• Incorporates edits and redlines to existing designs
• Facilitates ingest of supplier drawings into the Sentinel program tool set and workflow
• Develops basic data and makes preliminary layouts, sketches, and notes necessary to present design proposal
• Investigates design factors such as manufacturability, materials availability, interchangeability, cost, and specifications; coordinates with affected organizations
• Creates layouts of complex assemblies and checks drawings for clarity, conformity, and accuracy
• Identifies design errors and recommends revisions to responsible engineers
