Job summary

Fidus Systems is seeking a Hardware Designer to architect and deliver advanced electronic systems. You will collaborate across FPGA, software, SI/PI to define architectures, design high-speed circuits, and guide products from concept through bring-up and validation.

You will mentor others while maintaining quality and documentation standards. The role emphasizes DDR, PCIe Gen4, SerDes, and multi-layer PCB design, with a fully remote setup and international travel around ~15%.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering or equivalent.
  • Minimum 5 years of direct electronics design experience.
  • Ability to lead a design technically and as a mentor.
  • Strong knowledge of high-speed circuit and multi-layer PCB design.
  • Deep understanding of hardware product development lifecycle including requirements, architecture, schematic capture, PCB layout, signal integrity, verification, and manufacturing.
  • Background in FPGA designs, including 32Gbps diff pairs, power/thermal design.
  • Experience with DDR4, PCIe Gen4, MIPI, Gigabit Ethernet, USB-C, HDMI, SerDes and JESD204B.
  • Experience with development tools such as Cadence CIS/Orcad/Cadence Allegro.

Responsibilities

  • Develop system and board-level architectural design in collaboration with software and FPGA teams.
  • Provide schematic design and component selection for high-speed circuits and memory buses.
  • Conduct design simulations using LTSpice and validate with prototype bench tests.
  • Work with SI team for detailed net analyses of critical nets.
  • Participate in design reviews to ensure quality standards.
  • Create parts libraries and schematic capture with embedded layout constraints (OrCAD/Allegro).
  • Develop comprehensive test plans and procedures; perform lab bring-up and verification of prototypes.
  • Collaborate to address hardware & software integration issues and mentor junior designers.
