Job summary

Milwaukee Tool is seeking a Senior Design Engineer for Hand Tools to lead design and development of new products and support existing lines. The role acts as a technical leader on New Product Development projects and guides engineering decisions across cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities include leading NPD projects, performing advanced analyses, validating components, and mentoring engineers. Travel up to 10% may be required. Milwaukee Tool is an equal opportunity employer.

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering or Engineering Mechanics; Masters preferred.
• 5+ years of design experience.
• Strong proficiency in 3D CAD including Creo (Pro/E), SolidWorks, NX, or similar.
• Experience with engineering analysis tools such as FEA and hand calculations.
• Broad knowledge of materials, properties and manufacturing processes.
• Ability to influence technical decisions and collaborate across cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead mid/high complexity Hand Tool New Product Development projects as chief technical resource and mechanical engineering leader.
• Provide engineering information and recommendations to Project Leaders and Global teams to guide tradeoffs among performance, durability, manufacturability, cost, schedule, and user experience.
• Define validation strategies and test regimens; deliver data analyses to support design decisions and product launches.
• Independently develop, execute, and analyze laboratory and field tests; communicate findings to stakeholders.
• Mentor and consult with other engineers and lead design reviews.
• Identify and mitigate technical risks related to performance, reliability, manufacturability, supplier capability, and timing.
• Perform calculations and analyses: stress, tolerance stack, mechanism design, durability, fatigue, ergonomics; collaborate with manufacturing and suppliers.
