Job summary

Milwaukee Tool seeks a Senior Design Engineer to lead mid/high complexity Hand Tool New Product Development projects, guiding technical decisions across cross-functional teams and providing mentorship to engineers.

You will define validation strategies, perform data-driven analyses, and collaborate with manufacturing and suppliers to ensure robust product designs and successful launches.

Qualifications

• BS in Mechanical Engineering or Engineering Mechanics; MS preferred.
• 5+ years of design experience.
• Strong proficiency in 3D CAD (Creo, SolidWorks, NX).
• Experience with engineering analysis tools, such as FEA and hand calculations.
• Broad knowledge of engineering materials and manufacturing processes.
• Demonstrated ability to influence technical decisions and collaborate cross-functionally.
• Willingness to travel up to 10% (domestic and international).

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical engineering on mid/high complexity Hand Tool New Product Development projects.
• Provide clear engineering information and technical recommendations to Project Leaders and Global Engineering teams.
• Define validation strategies and establish test regimens for components and assemblies.
• Independently develop, execute, and analyze laboratory and field-testing programs.
• Mentor other engineers and provide consultation and design reviews.
• Identify and mitigate technical risks related to performance, manufacturability, supplier capability, and schedule.
• Perform mechanical analyses: stress, tolerances, mechanism design, durability, fatigue, ergonomics.
• Collaborate with manufacturing, quality, sourcing and suppliers for robust production launches.
• Lead technical investigations and root-cause analyses for product improvements.
