Job summary

Vantage Data Centers is seeking a Principal SME, Utility & Grid Infrastructure to lead utility engagement, grid interconnection, and regulator considerations for power delivery across large-scale data center projects.

The role partners with the Energy Strategy team to shape standards, reference architectures, and risk assessments that strengthen reliability while enabling rapid deployment across multiple regions. Remote-friendly within the US, with a focus on scalable, grid-ready designs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical discipline.
• 10+ years of experience in utility systems, transmission and distribution infrastructure, grid interconnection or power system engineering.
• Deep knowledge of utility operations, grid planning and substation design.
• Experience working directly with utilities, ISOs, RTOs, regulatory organizations or large-load interconnection processes.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the technical authority for utility engagement, grid interconnection and related infrastructure within Product Engineering.
• Define engineering requirements and study assumptions for practical mitigations.
• Lead cross-functional alignment to improve platform strategy and grid-ready architectures.
• Improve reliability and reduce interconnection risk through clear standards and scalable frameworks.
• Collaborate with Energy Strategy to develop utility engagement frameworks across regions.
