The ideal candidate has a strong background in protection engineering, 10+ years of experience, and the ability to lead technical work with minimal supervision.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
• Approximately 10+ years of utility protection and control experience.
• Experience developing protective relay settings and protection coordination.
• Knowledge of distribution substations, feeders, relay logic, and protection principles.
• Experience with fault analysis and field investigations.
• Ability to prepare calculations, settings files, technical reports, and design documentation.
• Strong written and verbal communication with utility teams.

Responsibilities

• Perform protection analysis and coordination reviews for distribution and substation systems.
• Review relay settings, fault-current impacts, and protection changes for breakers and relays.
• Evaluate protection coordination, feeder and transformer protection, and field application of schemes.
• Develop or review protection philosophies, calculations, and settings documentation.
• Support commissioning, field testing, and validation of protection systems.
• Develop protection schemes for distribution and substation applications.
• Lead protection system replacement and modernization projects.
• Investigate trips and outages to determine causes and corrective actions.
• Communicate results through reports and customer presentations.
