Job summary

Electric Power Engineers, LLC is seeking a Principal Engineer to provide power systems protection design and coordination analyses for transmission systems. The role encompasses developing protective relay settings, studying generation interconnections, and ensuring NERC PRC compliance to maintain grid reliability.

The successful candidate will guide clients on protection philosophies, use industry-standard tools, and lead a team in a fast-paced consulting environment.

Qualifications

• 8+ years experience in system protection and control.
• Strong technical foundation in transmission protection and planning.
• Experience with listed tools: ASPEN, CAPE, ETAP, Powerbase, SEL Quickset, GE Enervista UR Setup.
• Experience with SEL equipment and SEL Quickset programming.
• Experience with CYME, Synergi, Windmil/LightTable or similar.
• Inverter-based power plants experience preferred.
• Familiarity with ANSI/IEEE guidelines for transmission protection design.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform system protection and coordination studies for transmission and generation interconnection.
• Provide guidance on protection philosophies and standards to clients and stakeholders.
• Develop protection settings for 69 kV - 500 kV transmission and sub-transmission.
• Verify PRC-related compliance and study results.
• Review operations, outages, and identify improvements to system reliability.
• Lead client communications and project teams to deliver on schedules.
