Job summary

American Electric Power in Columbus, Ohio is seeking a New Generation Projects & Interconnection Engineer to support development, evaluation, and grid integration of gas, wind, solar, and storage facilities. You will develop owner requirements, evaluate bids and equipment, and coordinate interconnection activities with RTOs.

This role requires strong analytical, communication, and project coordination skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering required or equivalent.
• Strong analytical, writing, and communication skills.
• Experience coordinating projects and teams is essential.

Responsibilities

• Develop owner specifications, design criteria, scopes of work, and technical RFP materials for generation projects.
• Evaluate bids, project designs, equipment suppliers, and wind/solar resource assessments; document risks and recommendations.
• Support interconnection planning, RTO processes, and generator interconnection agreements.
• Perform or coordinate plant/transmission interface, voltage regulation, transformer tap, and short-circuit analyses.
