Job summary

American Electric Power seeks an experienced engineer to support development, evaluation, and grid integration of new generation assets. You will craft owner requirements, RFP materials, evaluate bids, and coordinate interconnection activities and planning with internal teams and external partners.

The role requires a bachelor’s in electrical engineering, strong analytical and writing skills, and experience with interconnection processes. On-site work with comprehensive benefits is provided.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering (ABET preferred).
• Working knowledge of power generation technologies, electric power systems, and interconnection processes.
• Strong analytical, project coordination, technical writing, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop owner specifications, design criteria, scopes of work, and technical RFP materials for generation projects.
• Evaluate bids, designs, equipment suppliers, and resource assessments; document technical risks and recommendations.
• Coordinate with project teams, consultants, equipment suppliers, transmission organizations, and internal stakeholders to deliver technically sound work products.
