Job summary

Invenergy is seeking an Engineer, Interconnections and Grid Analysis to perform technical analysis for interconnection processes on generation projects. Based in Chicago, the role supports transmission studies, regulatory input, and design considerations for wind, solar, and other assets.

You will work with PJM/ISO operators and asset managers on complex grid studies and market rules. The position emphasizes power-flow, congestion evaluation, and coordination with regulatory teams to ensure

Qualifications

BS or MS in Electrical Engineering with a focus on power systems.
0-2+ years of experience in transmission system planning, compliance and operations including complex power flow, short circuit, and stability studies.
General knowledge of, or desire to learn, FERC, NERC standards related to transmission and interconnections.
Eligible to work in the United States without the need for employer visa sponsorship now or in the future.

Responsibilities

Perform power flow analysis and market related evaluations as part of generation and transmission development activities.
Provide grid, transmission system planning and congestion evaluation, to assist in development activities mainly in PJM, NYISO, and ISONE
Review utility and RTO/ISO transmission expansion plans to identify potential opportunities.
Review utility interconnection studies (feasibility, impact, stability and facility).
Identify areas for new transmission projects based on generation technological shifts and the corresponding impacts it has on grid behavior.
Utilize regulatory and compliance knowledge to identify and evaluate areas of critical impact for projects in the interconnection pipeline.
Work with regulatory team to provide input on queue reforms and process changes as necessary.
