Job summary

Sargent & Lundy is seeking a seasoned electrical designer to join a project team focused on distribution design for 4 kV through 34 kV networks. The role requires drafting expertise, solid knowledge of NESC/NEC/IEEE standards, and extensive experience with distribution projects.

Qualifications

• Associate's Degree in Drafting and/or Bachelor's Degree in Engineering Technology, or high school diploma.
• 7+ years drafting coursework or equivalent technical experience.
• Minimum of 10 years of distribution design experience.
• Proficient with AutoCAD and/or MicroStation.
• Ability to visualize systems without the aid of the computer.
• Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles for technical plans and drawings.
• Familiarity with relevant codes and standards (NESC, NEC, ANSI, IEEE, GIS/GWD).
• Experience with complex overhead and underground distribution projects (120/208V through 34 kV).

Responsibilities

• Prepare construction sketches and details for overhead and underground network services.
• Create traffic control plans and permit drawings.
• Develop structural facility and equipment drawings; plans and profiles.
• Perform short circuit and voltage drop calculations.
• Develop Bills of Materials and estimates.
• Develop work packages to troubleshoot, repair, replace or modify electrical distribution systems.
• Plan system modifications and follow performance of work.
• Relocation package offered dependent on location.
