Job summary

The State of Florida seeks an Accountant IV in Tallahassee to perform GAAP-based accounting for the Resilient Florida Grant Program within the Disbursement Management Unit. Responsibilities include auditing, pre-audit processing, and reconciling financial data across various accounts and reports.

Responsibilities involve ensuring documentation, adherence to state policies, and providing timely financial information.

Qualifications

• Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Ability to establish and maintain working relationships.
• Ability to gather, interpret, report, and edit information.
• Detail-oriented with accuracy in a fiscal environment.
• Ability to compile, review, and reconcile financial data for accuracy and compliance.
• Knowledge of federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and policies.

Responsibilities

• Audit and process accounts payable/receivable in line with policies.
• Handle pre-audit and payment processing of expenditures.
• Verify account codes, documentation, authorizations, and justifications.
• Communicate with DEP personnel and vendors to resolve discrepancies.
• Ensure vouchers are posted and provide documentation for audits.
• Record entries in the State’s financial management system to correct errors.
• Conduct quality audits on paid vouchers and maintain documentation.
• Perform routine compliance reviews of department transactions.
• Perform other related duties as required.
