Job summary

Promise is seeking a senior attorney to own government contracting end to end, reviewing, drafting, and negotiating federal, state, and local procurement agreements. You will partner with security on FedRAMP reviews and data protection terms, ensuring bids stay compliant and terms are signable.

You will help scale contracting templates and work with outside counsel as needed, while tracking regulatory changes that affect public-sector deals and advising business teams on risk and structure.

Qualifications

• JD and active membership in good standing of at least one U.S. state bar.
• 5+ years practicing law with meaningful government contracts experience.
• Familiarity with FedRAMP and government security reviews; data privacy knowledge.
• Ability to negotiate complex government and enterprise agreements.
• Desire to grow into more senior government-contracts leadership.
• Pragmatic, business-minded with clear communication and risk awareness.
• Bonus: Govtech, fintech, or public-benefits/payments experience.

Responsibilities

• Own Public Sector and Commercial contracting: review, draft, and negotiate terms across federal, state, local procurements.
• Lead contract-side security and compliance review: collaborate on FedRAMP and agency reviews and data protection terms.
• Keep bids compliant: advise on requirements, certifications, representations, and flow-downs.
• Strengthen contracting practices: develop templates, playbooks, and scalable processes.
• Manage outside counsel: oversee specialists when needed and ensure cost efficiency.
• Stay ahead of regulation: track public-sector procurement rules and compliance regimes.
• Advise the business: provide risk and deal-structure guidance to BD, deployment, product, and security.
