Job summary

Northrop Grumman in Chandler, AZ, is hiring a Sr. Principal Engineer to lead advanced aerodynamic design for launch vehicles. This on-site role requires a 9/80 schedule with every other Friday off and a path to security clearance.

The candidate will develop 6DOF aerodynamic models, support wind tunnel testing, and present technical findings to executives. A degree in engineering and flight dynamics experience are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering.
• 5 years of professional experience (Level 3) or 8 years (Level 4), with 4+ years in lieu of degree.
• Experience with 6DOF aerodynamic model development.
• Experience with Python and the Linux operating system.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Secret security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Lead advanced launch vehicle aerodynamic design and support wind tunnel testing.
• Perform aerodynamic trade studies affecting stability, propulsion, and mass properties.
• Develop aerodynamic models for 6DOF launch vehicle simulations and analysis.
• Design and support wind tunnel testing programs and data interpretation.
• Present findings to management and senior leadership during reviews and milestones.
