Job summary

Moderna in Norwood, MA is seeking a Senior Engineer specializing in GMP manufacturing data historian and operational analytics to design, implement, and advance digital manufacturing data platforms across our manufacturing network.

The role requires hands-on experience with AVEVA/OSIsoft PI System, SIMCA, DeltaV, and related interfaces, plus collaboration with Manufacturing, Automation, QA, and Digital teams to ensure data is reliable, contextualized, and compliant with GMP and GAMP lifecycle

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Automation, or a related field.
Minimum of 5 years of experience supporting manufacturing information, automation, historian, or OT systems within biotechnology, pharmaceutical, life sciences, or another regulated environment.
Hands-on experience implementing, configuring, or administering an industrial data historian (AVEVA/OSIsoft PI preferred).
Experience with data from DCS/PLC/SCADA and industrial automation systems.
Experience integrating systems using OPC UA, MQTT, SQL, XML, APIs, or similar.
Experience with DeltaV or similar process-control platforms.
Working knowledge of GMP operations, cGMP, and validated computerized systems.
Understanding of validation, lifecycle documentation, testing, change control, and risk-based validation.
Knowledge of ISA-95 and cross-layer integration concepts.
Strong troubleshooting across data collection, connectivity, and system performance.

Responsibilities

Serve as SME for manufacturing data historian, operational analytics, visualization, and reporting systems supporting GMP operations.
Design, configure, implement, validate, and maintain historian solutions including data structures, assets, calculations, interfaces, visualization, and reporting.
Own AVEVA/OSIsoft PI components and integrations (PI Data Archive, Asset Framework, PI Vision).
Own SIMCA analytics to drive adoption with stakeholders and end users.
Develop integrations between data systems and automation platforms like DeltaV using OPC UA and MQTT.
Collaborate with stakeholders to translate data requirements into scalable solutions.
Develop SIMCA data models for process, equipment, batch, and analytics monitoring.
Create dashboards and reports using Grafana, Tableau, Power BI, SIMCA, Informetric or equivalent.
Ensure data integrity, availability, and contextualization across source systems and downstream apps.
Troubleshoot issues and perform root-cause analysis; contribute to lifecycle activities and validation processes.
Mentor and train engineers as part of ongoing capability development.
