Job summary

Akamai Technologies, Inc. is seeking a Senior Network Infrastructure Engineer to oversee global data centers, monitor networks and servers, and coordinate with data center NOCs worldwide.

You will deploy and repair servers, storage, routers, switches and other hardware; install firmware and software; manage decommissioning and migrations; and design rack layouts. A Bachelor's degree and 8 years of relevant experience are required.

Qualifications

• Have 8 years of relevant experience and a Bachelor's degree.
• Have experience in a NOC environment with hands-on hardware experience.
• Be knowledgeable of computer hardware and networking equipment.
• Possess solid troubleshooting skills in a large-scale data center environment.
• Have understanding of Linux system administration, server administration, and internals.
• Demonstrate professional problem solving, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Deploying and repairing servers, storage systems, routers, switches, and other hardware.
• Installing hardware, cabling, firmware, and software both on-site and remotely.
• Managing hardware decommission projects, including hardware disposal and data destruction.
• Shipping and receiving networking equipment to maintain network availability and reliability.
• Performing project work for data center migrations and hardware platform upgrades.
• Coordinating data center deployments from hardware requests to rack design.
