Job summary

Akamai Technologies is seeking a Senior Network Infrastructure Engineer to oversee operations in our global data centers. You will monitor and maintain data centers, networks, and servers worldwide, interacting with Network Operations Centers via phone, email, and portals.

You will deploy and repair servers, storage, routers, switches and other hardware, install firmware and software on-site or remotely, and lead hardware decommissioning and data destruction projects.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of relevant experience in network infrastructure
• Hands-on hardware experience in a NOC environment
• Knowledge of computer hardware and networking equipment
• Solid troubleshooting skills in large-scale data centers
• Understanding of Linux system administration and server internals
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Responsibilities

• Deploying and repairing servers, storage systems, routers, switches, and other hardware
• Installing hardware, cabling, firmware, and software both on-site and remotely
• Managing hardware decommission projects, including hardware disposal and data destruction
• Shipping and receiving networking equipment to maintain network availability and reliability
• Performing project work for data center migrations and hardware platform upgrades
• Coordinating data center deployments from hardware requests to rack design
