Job summary

Akamai Technologies, Inc. is seeking a Senior Network Infrastructure Engineer to oversee operations in our global data centers, monitoring servers, networks, and hardware across regions.

The role involves hands-on work with routers, switches, storage, and decommissioning projects, both on-site and remotely. You will coordinate deployments, work with NOC environments, and bring strong Linux and server administration skills to ensure high availability.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of relevant experience and a Bachelor's degree.
• Experience in a NOC environment with hands-on hardware experience.
• Knowledge of computer hardware and networking equipment.
• Strong troubleshooting skills in a large-scale data center environment.
• Understanding of Linux system administration, server administration, and internals.
• Demonstrated problem solving, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Deploying and repairing servers, storage systems, routers, switches, and other hardware.
• Installing hardware, cabling, firmware, and software both on-site and remotely.
• Managing hardware decommission projects, including hardware disposal and data destruction.
• Shipping and receiving networking equipment to maintain network availability and reliability.
• Performing project work for data center migrations and hardware platform upgrades.
• Coordinating data center deployments from hardware requests to rack design.
