Job summary

Verkada is seeking a Senior Leave of Absence Associate to own and elevate our global leave programs, ensuring a seamless, empathetic experience for employees during important life moments.

You will be the SME for leave administration, partnering with People Partners, Payroll, and Benefits, and driving scalable processes as Verkada grows internationally. This role requires on-site presence at one of Verkada’s offices in San Mateo, Salt Lake City, or Tempe.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in global leave administration or HR operations with hands-on leave ownership; 8+ years strongly preferred.
• Direct experience calculating leave top-ups for variable-compensation employees (commissions, quota, draws).
• Strong knowledge of FMLA, CFRA, ADA, PDL, PFL, workers' comp, STD/LTD, and international/multi-jurisdiction leave exposure.
• Proven pay audit accuracy and attention to detail; strong analytical skills and advanced Excel.
• Independent, end-to-end ownership of multiple workstreams in a fast-paced environment, with excellent judgment and discretion handling sensitive information.

Responsibilities

• Administer the full portfolio of leave programs globally: parental, medical, military, workers' compensation, unpaid/personal leave, and statutory leaves (FMLA, CFRA, PDL, PFL, ADA, and other state- or country-specific programs).
• Own the full leave lifecycle from intake through return-to-work.
• Develop and scale international leave processes with local partners, legal, and vendors as Verkada expands.
• Support workplace accommodations, partnering with People Partners, Legal, and managers on complex cases.
• Serve as the primary liaison with disability carriers (STD/LTD), coordinating claims and benefits continuation.
• Guide employees through state benefit programs and interactions with company policies.
• Deliver an outstanding, empathetic employee experience, keeping all stakeholders informed.
