Job summary

Coinbase is seeking an Employment Counsel to provide day-to-day employment law counseling and HR compliance support across its global workforce of about 5,000 employees in 20+ countries. The role covers employment agreements, HR compliance, litigation support, and AI tool deployment in the People team.

You will manage performance management, disciplinary matters, and exits while advising on international employment issues and pay equity compliance. A J.D. and U.S. bar admission are required.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of employment law experience, including in-house counseling of HR teams.
• Strong U.S. advisory experience across performance management, terminations, accommodations and leaves.
• Experience with employment litigation, discovery, and coordination with outside counsel.
• Working knowledge of U.S. HR compliance (EEO-1, OFCCP, pay equity) and AI employment law regulatory landscape.
• Uses generative AI responsibly with human oversight to improve workflow, cost, and quality.

Responsibilities

• Own a portfolio of people-relations counseling on performance, discipline, accommodations and exits.
• Advise on international employment matters across 20+ country footprint with local counsel and HR.
• Support employment agreement workflows including offer reviews, separation letters, and relocation letters.
• Drive compliance for AI tool deployments in recruiting and HR under the AI employment law framework.
• Partner with HR on EEO-1, OFCCP and pay equity compliance in global programs.
• Support employment litigation and administrative proceedings, including EEOC statements and discovery.
• Monitor and translate employment law developments into practical HR guidance.
