Job summary

Coinbase is seeking an Employment Counsel to deliver day-to-day employment law counseling and global compliance support for a workforce of ~5,000 across 20+ countries. You will handle performance, disciplinary matters, and exits, while supporting HR compliance and AI tool deployments in a rapidly evolving regulatory landscape.

You will work with the People team on international matters, employment agreements, and cross-border inquiries, reporting to the Employment Legal team.

Qualifications

• J.D. with active U.S. state bar membership and 5+ years of employment law experience.
• In-house experience advising HR partners on employment matters is preferred.
• Experience with employment litigation, compliance, and regulatory matters is expected.

Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day employment law counseling and compliance support across a global workforce.
• Advise on international employment matters and cross-border questions in collaboration with outside counsel and HR.
• Manage employment agreement workflows, provide templates, and escalate complex matters.
• Support AI tool deployments and compliance for the People team’s AI initiatives.
• Assist with pay equity, EEO-1 reporting, OFCCP obligations, and related compliance programs.
• Support litigation and administrative proceedings, including EEOC statements and discovery.
• Monitor developments in employment law and translate into practical HR guidance.
