Job summary

Coinbase, Inc. is seeking an Employment Counsel to support day-to-day employment law compliance for a global workforce of about 5,000 across 20+ countries. The role covers HR policy, agreements, and AI tool deployments in a regulated framework.

You'll advise on performance management, disciplinary actions, terminations, and international employment matters while coordinating with outside counsel on complex matters and shaping proactive compliance programs.

Qualifications

• J.D. with active U.S. state bar membership and 5+ years of employment law experience.
• In-house experience counseling HR partners on employment matters.
• Experience with employment litigation and administrative charges.
• Knowledge of U.S. HR compliance (EEO-1, OFCCP, pay equity) and AI regulatory landscape.
• Ability to responsibly use generative AI with human oversight.

Responsibilities

• Own a counseling portfolio on performance management, disciplinary matters, accommodations, policy questions, and exits.
• Advise on international employment matters across 20+ country footprint.
• Review employment agreement workflows, offers, separation agreements, relocations.
• Support AI tool deployments for recruiting/HR under the compliance framework.
• Collaborate with HR on EEO-1, OFCCP, and pay equity compliance.
• Assist with litigation and admin proceedings, including drafting statements and discovery support.
• Monitor employment law developments and translate into practical HR guidance.
