Job summary

Simmonds Precision Products in Vergennes, Vermont, seeks an experienced Senior General Ledger Accountant to lead month-end close, manage journal entries, and ensure GAAP-compliant financial reporting within a regulated aerospace environment.

You will collaborate with AR, AP, Cost Accounting, and Operations to align financial workflows, support budgeting and forecasting, and contribute to process improvements with a self-driven, detail-oriented approach.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required.
• 4–6+ years of progressive accounting experience, including general ledger responsibilities.
• CPA or CPA candidate preferred.
• Experience in government contracting or aerospace/defense manufacturing is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual close activities.
• Prepare, review, and analyze journal entries, reconciliations, and financial schedules.
• Ensure financial statements and reports are accurate and timely.
• Oversee accruals, prepaids, fixed assets, intercompany transactions, and other key accounting areas.
• Support ERP data governance and process improvements.
