Job summary

Simmonds Precision in Vergennes, Vermont, seeks a Senior Cost Accountant to lead cost accounting, inventory valuation, and financial analyses essential for operational and strategic decisions. You will drive cost models, variances, and margins within a manufacturing environment.

The role focuses on expanding responsibility in cost and inventory accounting while strengthening a developing finance organization, with interaction across Operations and Finance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required.
• 6+ years of accounting experience in cost or manufacturing settings.
• Strong understanding of cost accounting and inventory valuation.
• Advanced Excel skills; experience with ERP or analytics tools.
• Strong analytical, detail-oriented with multi-tasking ability.
• Clear written and verbal communication.

Responsibilities

• Maintain planned costs, labor and overhead rates, and cost models.
• Reconcile inventory and WIP, perform cost roll-ups and margin analysis.
• Analyze manufacturing variances including material usage and overhead absorption.
• Partner with Operations to identify cost drivers and insights.
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and cost planning.
