Job summary

Simmonds Precision in Vergennes, Vermont, is seeking a Senior General Ledger Accountant to maintain GAAP-compliant financial records and support timely reporting within a regulated aerospace manufacturing environment.

You will lead core month-end close activities, prepare complex reconciliations, and improve close processes, working cross-functionally with AR, AP, Cost Accounting, and Operations while upholding internal controls.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required.
• 4-6+ years of progressive accounting experience, including general ledger responsibilities.
• Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting principles.
• Advanced Excel skills; interest in learning ERP tools.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities with the ability to manage multiple priorities.

Responsibilities

• Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual close activities.
• Prepare, review, and analyze journal entries, reconciliations, and financial schedules.
• Ensure financial statements and reports are completed accurately and within deadlines.
• Oversee accruals, prepaids, fixed assets, intercompany transactions, and other key accounting areas.
• Identify opportunities to streamline and improve close processes.
