Job summary

VDOT’s Central Office Maintenance Division seeks an advanced GIS Analyst to support the Highway Maintenance Management Section. The candidate will perform advanced GIS analysis, enterprise asset data management, GIS application development, and coordinate with the HMMS Program Manager.

The role requires analyzing GIS data, developing tools using ESRI technologies, and acting as a technical liaison between ITD, asset management system admins, and users with varying technical capabilities.

Qualifications

BS/BA in GIS, Geography, Cartography, Computer Science, or related field.
4-8 years GIS and GIS application development experience.
5+ years designing, building, delivering web applications.
Excellent problem-solving, verbal, and written communication, design, development, and debugging skills.
Experience in complex analysis and mapping projects.
Ability to communicate technical information to non-technical users.
Proficiency in ESRI GIS software suite including ArcGIS Pro and ArcSDE.
Ability to develop GIS tools independently and multi-layered maps.
Self-starter with a strong software background and minimal supervision.
Proficiency in Python.

Responsibilities

Analyze, validate, and maintain GIS data for maintenance assets.
Develop and maintain GIS applications using ESRI technologies.
Serve as technical liaison between ITD, asset management admins, and users with varying technical capabilities.
Coordinate across teams to deliver complex GIS analyses.
