Job summary

Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) is seeking an advanced GIS Analyst for a Hybrid role. You will lead GIS analysis, data management, and application development to support the Highway Maintenance Management Section.

Expect collaboration with IT and asset management teams to deliver complex maps and tools. The ideal candidate has 6+ years in GIS, strong ArcGIS Pro/Enterprise experience, and expert Python scripting.

Qualifications

• BS/BA in GIS or related field required.
• 4–8 years GIS and GIS application development experience.
• 5+ years designing, building, and delivering web apps.
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
• Ability to explain technical information to non-technical users.
• Proficiency in Python.

Responsibilities

• Perform advanced GIS analysis and asset data management.
• Develop and maintain GIS applications using ESRI technologies.
• Coordinate with ITD and asset managers as a technical liaison.
• Analyze, validate, and maintain GIS data for maintenance assets.
• Design and deliver complex mapping projects.
• Develop tools and multi-layer maps with GIS suite and scripting.
