Job summary

Betis Group, Inc. seeks an advanced GIS Analyst for a hybrid role in Virginia. You will perform advanced GIS analysis, manage enterprise asset data, and develop GIS applications using ESRI technologies while coordinating with IT and asset managers.

You will analyze and maintain GIS data for maintenance assets, build multi-layer maps and web apps, and translate technical details to non-technical users. Expect a hybrid schedule with in-office days.

Qualifications

• BS/BA in GIS, Geography, Cartography, Computer Science, or related field.
• 4-8 years of experience in GIS and GIS application development.
• Minimum 5 years of experience designing, building, and delivering web applications.
• Excellent problem-solving, verbal, and written communication, design, development, and debugging skills.
• Experience in development of complex analysis and mapping projects.
• Ability to communicate technical information to non-technical users, orally and in writing.
• Proficiency in ESRI GIS software suite (ArcGIS Pro 3.x+), ArcSDE, ArcGIS Enterprise.
• Ability to develop GIS tools and applications independently and work with minimal supervision.
• Proficiency in Python.

GIS Analyst 3 (Hybrid)

Salary Range: $60.00 To $80.00 Annually

VDOT’s Central Office Maintenance Division requires an advanced GIS Analyst to support their Highway Maintenance Management Section. The candidate will take directions from the HMMS Program Manager and must be able to perform advanced GIS analysis, enterprise asset data management, GIS application development, and technical coordination. The candidate will be responsible for analyzing, validating, and maintaining GIS data associated with various maintenance assets, developing and maintaining GIS applications using ESRI technologies as well as serving as a technical liaison between ITD, asset management system administrators and system users of varying technical capabilities.

Qualifications

• BS/BA in GIS, Geography, Cartography, Computer Science, or other related field with/ GIS experience.
• 4-8 years of experience in GIS and GIS application development.
• A minimum of 5 years of experience designing, building, and delivering web applications
• Excellent problem-solving, verbal, and written communication, design, development, and debugging skills
• Must have experience in the development of complex analysis and mapping projects.
• Must have the ability to communicate technical information to non-technical computer users, both orally and in writing.
• Candidates shall demonstrate high competence in ESRI GIS software suite (ArcGIS Pro 3.x and higher) including, but not limited to, a thorough knowledge of ArcSDE and ArcGIS Enterprise (server, portal, web adaptors, data stores).
• Must work independently to develop GIS tools and applications, perform complex analyses, and develop multi-layered maps by using an appropriate combination of tools in the GIS application suite and other programming environments.
• Self-starter with a technical background in software and the ability to work with minimal supervision
• Candidate should have Proficiency in Python.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience and demonstrated proficiency in data extraction, analysis, and scripting tools, preferably Oracle SQL and PostgreSQL.
• Prior experience with LRS and working knowledge and experience with ESRI Roads & Highways or other similar systems is a plus
• Prior experience working with enterprise asset management systems and datasets
• Develop and maintain linear referencing systems (LRS) and GIS applications to support spatial data management needs.
• Experience in Reporting Tools such as Power BI is strongly desired.

Working Conditions

• In-state travel may be required sometimes
• This position follows a hybrid Work Model requiring you to work 3-4 days per week from the office.
