Job summary

Shannon & Wilson Inc. seeks an senior Geotechnical/Civil Engineer to lead the underground services practice and expand capabilities across roadways, rail, water, and utilities.

You will coordinate design, cost estimates, and standards, while mentoring engineers and driving client-focused solutions. Applicants should have a PE license in the relevant state, 14–20+ years of experience, and strong skills in reading plans and performing SEM/NATM type assessments.

Qualifications

• BS in Civil Engineering required; MS or PhD preferred.
• 14–20+ years of Geotechnical or Civil Engineering experience.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license in the state where the office is located.
• Ability to read and interpret plans, profiles, surveys, and geotechnical data.

Responsibilities

• Lead the direction of the underground practice area and provide high-end services to clients, upholding best practices.
• Design and organize underground infrastructure projects, including large tunnels and pipelines.
• Prepare drawings, technical specifications, calculations, and cost estimates.
• Review engineering reports and coordinate designs with subsurface conditions.
• Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and standards.
• Mentor engineers and supervise staff; manage multiple clients and projects.
• Support business development with cost proposals and presentations to clients.
• Provide technical guidance to colleagues across Shannon & Wilson.
