Job summary

NV5 is seeking a Geotechnical Engineer in Ventura, CA, open to Senior Project Engineer to Associate Engineer level (10–15 years). You will lead investigations, perform analyses, and monitor fieldwork across diverse markets, including transportation, water, education, and data centers.

Ideal candidates hold CA PE/GE licenses, strong communication, and mentoring skills, with willingness to travel regionally. AI tools experience is a plus; join a team focused on quality and client service.

Qualifications

• 10–15 years of geotechnical engineering experience; PE/GE licensure in CA is preferred.
• Hands-on site investigation and construction observation experience required.
• Strong technical skills in slope stability, retaining systems, foundations, earthwork, and subsurface characterization.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to produce clear technical reports.

Responsibilities

• Lead geotechnical investigations, including planning, drilling oversight, soil/rock sampling, and field data collection.
• Perform analyses: slope stability, settlement, bearing capacity, earth pressure, liquefaction, seepage.
• Provide construction monitoring and observation for earthwork, foundations, retaining walls, deep foundations.
• Install, monitor, and interpret geotechnical instrumentation and monitoring data.
• Prepare investigation reports, memos, computation packages, design reports, and specs.
• Manage projects: scope, schedule, budget; coordinate with subconsultants and clients.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across NV5; mentor junior staff.
• Participate in proposals and business development; apply AI tools to workflows.
• Maintain health, safety standards and QA/QC practices.
