Job summary

NV5 is seeking a Sr. Staff Geotechnical Engineer in California to lead subsurface exploration, analysis, and report preparation. You will oversee field technicians and coordinate laboratory results while ensuring projects stay within budget and schedule.

The role involves developing technical deliverables and proposals within a dynamic team. Ideal candidates have a civil engineering background, EIT/PE path, and 2+ years in geotechnical field work, with willingness to travel to Torrance and

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering; a Masters is a plus.
Engineer in Training (EIT) certification desired. Working towards PE licensure is expected.
Minimum 2+ years of geotechnical field engineer construction experience required.
Construction project experience.

Responsibilities

Support project managers and senior staff with planning and executing projects with complex features.
Review work products for compliance with Quality Control standards.
Carry out complex assignments that develop new techniques and procedures.
Supervise and review field technicians and other staff on assignments.
Develop and review technical and cost proposals and deliverables.
Serve as staff professional on construction projects, inspecting foundations, shoring, and slopes.
Manage subsurface explorations, including borehole sampling, installations, and supervising subcontractors.
