Tectonic Engineering Consultants, Geologists & Land Surveyors, D.P.C. provides a pay range of $112,000.00/yr - $150,000.00/yr. Actual pay will depend on skills and experience; discuss with your recruiter.

Position Overview

We are seeking a full-time Senior Geotechnical/Tunnel Engineer with extensive experience in heavy civil construction inspection for underground structures such as tunnels, shafts, caverns, rock reinforcement, piles, caissons, grouting, and ground improvement. The role involves a multi-year field assignment on a large-scale infrastructure project in the metro NYC area, including Westchester, the Bronx, and Manhattan.

Responsibilities

1. Perform geotechnical engineering services related to tunneling, including geologic mapping, inspection of SOE rock reinforcement, grouting, probe hole drilling, and permeability testing.
2. Oversee geotechnical instrumentation and monitoring, including deformation and vibration.
3. Conduct subsurface investigations like test borings, pits, and geophysical methods.
4. Prepare field reports documenting geologic maps, testing, and construction activities.
5. Attend progress meetings and supervise additional field staff as needed.
6. Review and interpret blueprints, drawings, and reports; perform complex calculations; prepare reports and drawings.

Qualifications

• Valid New York State Professional Engineering or Geologist license.
• At least 5 years of related geotechnical experience, especially in underground structures.
• Strong communication skills and effective client and contractor interaction.
• Diversified knowledge of technology, materials, and construction techniques.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and design software.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to project sites.

Physical and Additional Requirements
