Job summary

Terracon is seeking an experienced Geophysicist to support geologic, groundwater, environmental, engineering, and materials testing investigations in Raleigh. The role involves planning, conducting and coordinating non-invasive surveys, analyzing data and interpreting results for vital infrastructure projects.

The position requires a bachelor’s in Geology or Geophysics, 5–8 years’ experience, and preference for a master’s or PhD.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Geology or Geophysics required.
• Minimum 5–8 years of experience.
• Master’s degree or PhD preferred.
• Ability to obtain registration as a Professional Geophysicist.

Responsibilities

• Follow safety rules, guidelines and standards for all projects. Participate in pre-task planning.
• Provide and lead continuous quality monitoring and improvement on projects.
• Provide consistent quality standards on project and proposal delivery.
• Plan, schedule, conduct or coordinate detailed phases of work for part of a major project.
• May devise new approaches to problems encountered.
• May serve as a team leader in medium projects and mentor junior Geophysicists.
• Performs geophysical analyses on projects.
• Attend on and off-site client meetings.
• Direct and supervise field staff to sample, test and collect data.
• Develop written proposals to clients for both small and large projects including quality control review.
• Evaluate complex geophysical data and assemble in written reports.
• Work under the supervision of Terracon Authorized Project Reviewer.
• Begin documented mentoring and application process for Terracon Authorized Project Reviewer certification.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Geology or Geophysics

Master’s degree or PhD preferred
