Qualifications

• J.D. from ABA-accredited law school is required.
• Six years of practicing attorney experience in higher education, complex commercial transactions, business formation and structures, or public finance.
• Experience with regulatory compliance, contractual relations, and policy development is preferred.
• Strong, effective communication skills are essential.

Responsibilities

• Draft, negotiate, and review agreements and other legal documents for the transactional group across university offices.
• Provide legal counsel and opinions based on federal/state law, ABOR policies, and university policies.
• Advise on regulatory compliance and represent ASU in negotiations, administrative proceedings, and disputes.
• Research laws and policies; analyze legislation and its impact on the university.
• Develop and present preventive law programs; collaborate with outside counsel as needed.
• Represent OGC at meetings and conferences; maintain relationships with regulatory and legal resources.
