Job summary

Novartis in East Hanover, NJ is seeking a Gene Therapy Analytical Development Chemist who will independently design, execute, and report analytical studies to support gene therapy product development. You will characterize product quality attributes and develop and transfer analytical methods for characterization, process development, and stability assessment.

The role requires solving analytical challenges, mentoring junior scientists, and ensuring GMP and data integrity.

Qualifications

PhD with 3+ years in industry or MS with 4+ years or BS with 5+ years.
Strong foundation in analytical chemistry and related disciplines.
Experience with biologics, viral vectors, or gene therapy analytics.
Hands-on experience with listed analytical platforms.
Experience with GMP documentation preferred; experience with AAV/lentiviral vectors preferred.

Responsibilities

Design, execute, analyze, and report analytical studies for gene therapy programs.
Develop, qualify, transfer, and optimize analytical methods for characterization and stability.
Troubleshoot analytical challenges and provide data-driven solutions.
Perform characterization using chromatography, CE, and biophysical techniques.
Contribute expertise to cross-functional teams and communicate findings.
Author and review technical reports, SOPs, and regulatory documents.
Evaluate emerging technologies and improve analytical capabilities.
Mentor junior scientists and foster a collaborative environment.
Ensure GMP compliance and data integrity.
