Job summary

Babich & Associates is seeking a Senior Accountant / Accounting Manager to oversee financial statements across multiple entities, including investment funds and cost basis accounting, while partnering with internal teams and external advisors.

You will manage journal entries, reconciliations, and quarter-end close, ensure ASC 946 alignment, and support audits, tax packages, and due diligence with strong communication and attention to detail.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA designation (or active candidate status) preferred.
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience with exposure to investment accounting, private equity structures, or middle-market holding companies.
• Strong proficiency in U.S. GAAP, internal control frameworks, and advanced Excel; familiarity with multi-entity or fund accounting ERP systems is a plus.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, meticulous attention to detail, and ability to manage competing deadlines across multiple entities.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and review quarterly and annual financial statements for investment funds and operating entities.
• Maintain cost basis accounting for portfolio entities, reconciling ASC 946 (investment company) principles with cost basis statements where appropriate.
• Perform general accounting duties, including journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, supporting schedules, and quarter-end close procedures.
• Compile detailed data packages for external tax advisors to support federal, state, and partnership filings; serve as a key contact for external auditors during annual audits.
• Assist with financial due diligence, purchase price allocations, and acquisition accounting alongside operational leads.
• Monitor and strengthen internal controls, conduct remediation testing, and prepare custom financial analyses for leadership.
