Job summary

Rivian and Volkswagen Group Technologies is seeking a functional safety engineer to perform safety analysis on internal software and lead safety-related architecture across ECUs. You will collaborate with vehicle software teams to derive safety requirements and implement safety measures including memory protection and plausibility checks.

The role requires a Master’s degree in engineering and 2 years of relevant experience, plus hands-on work with automotive safety processors and V&V activities.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
• 2 years of experience in developing safety software.
• Experience with embedded systems and body controllers safety applications.
• Experience in requirements derivation and traceability; system architecture and design; FMEA.
• V&V: test specification for HIL/SIL testing (V&V).
• Experience with NXP and/or Infineon automotive safety processors; agile software development; using JAMA, Doors, Jira, Bugzilla.

Responsibilities

• Perform functional safety analysis of application and platform software.
• Derive software safety requirements and safety measures.
• Collaborate with HW and software teams to ensure delivery of safety software.
• Lead development of safe SW architecture including ASIL decomposition and dependency analyses.
• Write fault injection test cases to support SIL and HIL testing.
• Support HSI content between software and hardware; define coding guidelines.
• Develop verification and validation methods for testing safety mechanisms.
• Document software safety requirements, architecture, and validation events.
