Job summary

Rivian is seeking a Software Functional Safety Engineer to lead safety analyses for embedded software, develop safety concepts and requirements, and collaborate with cross-functional teams across power electronics software. The role emphasizes safety-critical design in SoCs, microcontrollers, and application software, with strong emphasis on ISO 26262 standards.

You will drive safety implementations, support hardware safety work, and ensure traceability from software requirements to test cases

Qualifications

MS/BS/PhD in Electrical, Embedded, or Software Engineering.
5+ years of embedded software and controls with functional safety background (ISO 26262).
Experience with CAN, SPI, LIN and embedded safety concepts.
Experience with FTA/FMEA/FFI/DFA analysis for embedded software.
Proficiency with safety-critical software development processes and traceability.

Responsibilities

Perform software safety analysis of embedded software and control algorithms.
Develop software safety concepts, requirements, and architecture for safety-critical paths.
Produce safety analyses such as FTA, FMEDA, FFI, CFA, and DFA for subsystems.
Support hardware safety analysis and traceability across software artifacts.
Draft Design Verification Plans and assist in safety testing across SIL/HIL/Dyno/Test Bench.
