Job summary

Atoms is building the machines that power the next era of progress in the physical world. The role focuses on owning end-to-end safety cases, defining scope, and defending the hazard arguments with solid evidence for real-world robotic systems.

You will work with safety, scenario validation and fleet operations teams, applying ISO and SAE standards, and using AI-assisted tooling to accelerate rigorous safety work.

Qualifications

• 7+ years across functional safety, autonomy behaviour and fleet operations
• Demonstrated hazard analysis ownership (HARA, FMEA, FTA or equivalent)
• Structured safety argument creation (GSN or equivalent) and defense
• Proven scenario-based validation ownership
• Strong focus on provenance of measurements vs estimates
• Ability to communicate safety concepts clearly in writing

Responsibilities

• Own a defined scope of the safety case end to end, from first draft to signed, including its upkeep afterward when something it depends on is revised
• Define what your argument covers and what it explicitly does not: the conditions it assumes, the exclusions and why they hold, and the hazards that cannot arise within the scope
• Judge evidence sufficiency and gather evidence from various sources with cross-functional teams
• Write the claim-argument-evidence map and ensure clarity on when it holds
• Convene review when the work is ready and carry reviewer comments to resolution
• Be a demanding user of the shared method and tooling built by safety, validation and fleet leads
• Use AI tooling to draft templates, stress-test hazard sets, and trace hazards to tests to evidence
