Job summary

Zobility in Southfield, MI is seeking a Technical Specialist, Functional Safety Engineer with deep ISO 26262 expertise to lead safety work across vehicle subsystems.

You will develop safety concepts, review HARA and FS requirements, coordinate with hardware, software and validation teams, and guide external partners through FS documentation. The role requires hands-on experience, strong communication, and the ability to drive safety activities in a fast-paced automotive environment.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in functional safety engineering or related role.
• Experience delivering major FS work products per ISO 26262.
• Experience with external/third-party FS reviews.
• Ability to articulate safety issues and solutions to all levels of business.
• Strong documentation and collaboration across hardware/software teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead development of functional safety system requirements and functional decomposition for automotive systems.
• Review and approve HARA, Functional Safety Requirements, Technical Safety Requirements, Validation tests.
• Define the functional safety concept for system, hardware, and software per ISO 26262.
• Collaborate with hardware, software, design and validation engineers to meet safety requirements.
• Oversee the program Functional safety readiness process and metrics.
• Lead development of SOTIF requirements for autonomous driving and core subsystems.
• Work with cross-functional teams to develop hazard analysis and safety concept.
• Support functional safety validation tests.
• Define FS interfaces between project partners and manage FS documents for suppliers.
