Job summary

Yora is seeking an experienced Technical Specialist - Functional Safety Engineer in Southfield, Michigan, to lead functional safety activities across system, hardware and software for advanced automotive projects.

The role requires extensive hands-on ISO 26262 experience, SOTIF exposure, and strong collaboration with OEMs, suppliers, and cross-functional teams in a fast-paced engineering environment. This is a 12-month contract with potential extension and on-site work.

Qualifications

8+ years experience in Functional Safety engineering within automotive safety.
Deep knowledge of ISO 26262 and major FS work products.
1+ year hands-on SOTIF experience with analysis and artifacts.
Experience leading FS analyses for complex automotive systems.
Strong understanding of FS responsibilities and OEM-supplier interfaces.
Experience with FS tools (Medini, APIS IQ) and requirements tools (Jama).

Responsibilities

Lead development of Functional Safety system requirements and decomposition.
Review HARA, FSR, TSR and validate activities with teams and suppliers.
Define and develop Functional Safety concepts across system, hardware and software.
Lead SOTIF requirements for autonomous driving and core subsystems.
Oversee FS readiness, metrics, and deliverables across programs.
Collaborate with systems, hardware, software, design and validation engineers.
