Job summary

Capgemini is seeking an experienced Functional Safety (FuSa) Engineer in Auburn Hills, MI, to join a cross-functional product development team. You will apply ISO 26262 standards across multiple vehicle domains, lead FuSa tasks, and develop key safety artifacts to ensure safe and compliant vehicle features throughout the development lifecycle.

The role requires 5–8 years of automotive FuSa experience, independence in safety analyses, and collaboration with design teams.

Qualifications

5–8 years of proven experience in functional safety engineering, preferably within the automotive industry.
Experience with Body Control Modules, Chassis, Powertrain, Interior, Connectivity or Infotainment.
Strong understanding and practical application of ISO 26262 standards.
Experience developing HARAs and Functional Safety Concepts (FSCs).
Ability to lead and manage functional safety activities independently.

Responsibilities

Perform, support, and/or manage the execution of all Functional Safety (ISO 26262) tasks for FuSa-relevant vehicle features.
Apply FuSa principles across Body, Chassis, E/E Platform, and ADAS domains.
Develop and maintain key FuSa work products: Impact Analysis, Item Definition, HARA, FSC, and Technical Safety Concept.
Collaborate with Design DFMEA activities and participate in design reviews.
Support Design Verification Plan development and lead review of FuSa work products for quality and compliance.
