EducationSuperHighway is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join a small team and accelerate a payroll and giving platform launch. You will extend integrations, own parts of the core API-first stack, and collaborate closely with another engineer to reach launch readiness for the January 2027 timeline.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of full-stack engineering experience building production web apps.
• Experience in early-stage startups, with ambiguity and fast iteration.
• Regular use of AI coding tools (Cursor, Copilot, Codex, Claude).
• Sound judgment in evaluating AI outputs and safe deployment.
• Strong experience with third-party API integrations, especially payroll/HRIS.
• Ability to model relational data for multi-tenant workflows.
• Proven background job pipelines with queue tech and observability.
• Secure handling of PII and financial data, with compliant practices.
• Comfort deploying and monitoring production services.
• Clear communication in a fast-moving, early-stage environment.
• Payroll/HRIS integrations familiarity; fintech exposure.
• SSO and identity provider integrations (OIDC/SAML).
• CRM integration experience (Salesforce, etc.).

Responsibilities

• Build on a product-focused, API-first full-stack platform for employers and payroll.
• Integrate with payroll/HRIS providers, starting with Finch and ADP, and expand.
• Develop provider-agnostic integration layer to simplify adding new providers.
• Design enrollment flows, dashboards, and multi-tenant employer campaigns.
• Create robust background jobs with status tracking and retry logic.
• Support money movement and reconciliation with a payments provider.
• Implement compliance-aware document workflows for year-end receipts.
• Handle sensitive employee/financial data with secure practices.
