MO is a fully remote organization seeking a Senior Software Engineer to support the Department of Veterans Affairs, modernizing eligibility and enrollment systems for millions of Veterans and families. You will design and maintain enterprise Java applications using Java 17+, Spring Boot, and related technologies, collaborate with architects, and contribute to CI/CD and testing.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or related field.
• 5–8 years of software development experience.
• Strong hands on experience with Java development.
• Hands on experience with Spring Framework and/or Spring Boot.
• Hand on experience developing REST APIs and web services.
• Experience working with Oracle or other relational databases.
• Experience using Git-based source control.
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.
• Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
• Strong verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain enterprise Java applications
• Analyze and resolve complex software defects and production issues
• Support enhancements and sustainment activities for applications utilizing Java, Spring Framework, Struts, JSP, EJB, JMS, WebLogic, Hibernate, Oracle, and related technologies
• Collaborate with architects and senior developers on modernization initiatives
• Develop and optimize SQL queries and database integrations
• Participate in code reviews and mentor junior developers
• Contribute to automated testing, CI/CD processes, and application deployments
