Job summary

Laansu seeks a Senior Software Developer to build and support software used by the Department of Transportation and the public to enhance road safety. The role includes hands-on development, mentoring juniors, and delivering durable solutions for many years.

The position is full-time with a probationary period and a comprehensive benefits package. Eligible for hybrid or full remote work depending on location, and candidates must be able to obtain a Public Trust Position and US work authorization.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field.
• 5+ years of writing object-oriented code in Java.
• 5+ years of building web applications or APIs.
• 5+ years of designing objects in relational databases.
• 3+ years of creating rich web interfaces using HTML, CSS, Bootstrap, Angular/Typescript.
• Familiarity with AWS Cloud environments (ECS, RDS, KMS).
• Familiarity with ORM tools like Hibernate/JPA.
• Experience with Git and other VCS.
• Hands-on full-stack experience (Angular frontend, Java backend).
• Experience with microservices and backend service design.
• Docker container deployments and CI/CD pipelines.

Responsibilities

• Receive tasks from program manager and estimate development timelines.
• Follow agile sprint schedules and assist Test Team with testing.
• Peer-review colleagues’ work and provide constructive feedback.
• Document design decisions and technical details.
• Maintain source code version control.
• Lead the team and mentor juniors; deliver robust software for multi-year use.
• Take on additional responsibilities to advance your career.
