Job summary

Ad Hoc LLC is seeking a Senior Software Engineer - Full Stack to help build scalable digital services for government clients. This role offers remote work and involves ownership of significant parts of the web stack, mentoring peers, and collaborating with product teams and clients to deliver reliable software.

Applicants should bring strong frontend and backend experience, API and database expertise, and a track record of guiding engineering decisions.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree and 7+ years of professional software engineering experience, or equivalent practical experience.
Strong experience developing and maintaining production software across both frontend and backend technologies.
Expert-level knowledge in at least one technical area such as frontend, backend, APIs, databases, cloud infrastructure, or DevOps.
Experience designing, developing, testing, debugging, and maintaining modern web applications and services.
Experience working with APIs, databases, distributed systems, and integrations between applications or services.
Demonstrated ability to independently troubleshoot complex technical problems and drive them through resolution.
Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams and communicating technical concepts to stakeholders.
Experience mentoring or providing technical guidance to other engineers.

Responsibilities

Demonstrate strong technical ownership for your contributions to the application codebase.
Design, build, test, maintain, and improve full-stack applications and services.
Maintain an understanding of adjacent systems to coordinate integrations.
Diagnose and resolve complex issues to drive improvements.
Evaluate approaches to technical and process challenges for sound decisions.
Contribute to design and architecture discussions with diagrams and recommendations.
Communicate technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Mentor junior and mid-level engineers and support their development.
Lead small projects or initiatives when needed.
Identify opportunities to improve software processes, reliability, and team effectiveness.
Participate in technical interviews and help evaluate candidates.
Integrate AI-assisted development tools to accelerate delivery while maintaining quality.
