Job summary

TransUnion Consumer Interactive (TUCI) seeks a Lead Engineer, Applications Development to lead design and hands-on development of web applications, Java backend services, microservices, and RESTful APIs. This hybrid role involves coordinating releases across time zones and mentoring junior engineers.

You will apply AI and Generative AI to improve code quality, automate engineering tasks, and enhance customer experiences, with a focus on scalable full‑stack delivery using Java, Spring Boot,

Qualifications

• 10+ years of software development experience with at least 8 years in Java and Spring ecosystem, designing and coding.
• Full‑stack experience building web apps, backend services, microservices, and RESTful APIs in production.
• Proven track record leading technical projects, reviewing code, mentoring engineers, and producing designs.
• Experience supporting production apps, troubleshooting issues, and collaborating with support teams.
• Practical AI/Generative AI experience in software engineering, including tooling and productivity gains.

Responsibilities

• Lead technical design and hands‑on development of web apps, Java backend services, microservices, and APIs.
• Translate requirements into detailed designs and drive projects from design through implementation.
• Mentor junior engineers, review code, and promote software‑engineering best practices.
• Develop full‑stack solutions using Java, Spring Boot, Oracle/SQL, JavaScript, HTML, CSS.
• Coordinate releases across teams in different geographies/time zones.
• Participate in Agile planning, stand‑ups, reviews, and testing activities.
• Evaluate and apply AI/Generative AI to improve code quality, automate tasks, and speed delivery.
• Explore AI approaches like LLMs, RAG, AI‑powered search, and AI‑assisted development tools.
