Job summary

AppFolio is seeking a senior-level full-stack Software Engineer to join the Leasing Engineering Team. You will help drive rapid product development, defining technical direction for SaaS products, and delivering high-quality, scalable solutions used by thousands of real estate businesses.

The role emphasizes ownership, mentoring, and rigorous engineering practices across design, coding, and architecture, with a focus on reliability, performance, and maintainability.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience developing and scaling web-based applications.
• Comfortable across all levels of the development stack.
• Experience leading technical projects end-to-end with stakeholders.
• Experience with Agile practices (Scrum, Kanban, CI/CD).
• Strong automated testing experience and sustainable engineering.
• Language-agnostic with deep experience in at least one modern language (Ruby, Java, or Python).
• Willingness to adopt new tools that add value and drive refactoring.

Responsibilities

• Develop scalable, resilient web-based solutions at scale.
• Mentor engineers and raise the technical bar across the team.
• Optimize algorithms and database queries for SaaS scalability and performance.
• Design and deliver new features with robustness and maintainability in mind.
