Job summary

TYLin’s Aviation team seeks a Senior Mechanical Engineer to design fuel storage and distribution systems for airports, ports, and railyards. You will work on fuel system layouts, coordinate HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection, and deliver documentation for complex projects.

You will apply industry standards and collaborate with architects, electrical and structural engineers to ensure safe, compliant, and constructible designs. A PE or progress toward one is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering required.
• 8+ years of fuel systems mechanical engineering experience, ideally in aviation.
• PE license preferred or in progress.
• Experience with fuel system controls, emergency shut-off, leak detection, and inventory management.

Responsibilities

• Support the mechanical design of fuel storage and distribution systems.
• Coordinate HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection design for industrial facilities.
• Prepare drawings, specifications, and technical reports for fueling projects.
• Perform engineering calculations, equipment sizing, and surge modeling.
• Apply NFPA, API, ATA 103, EI 1540, JIG, ASHRAE standards and local codes.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated solutions.
• Participate in QA/QC and mentor junior engineers.
• Travel as needed.
